Goodwill Tech Academy’s free Computer Basics course is for people who want to learn how to use a computer. This seven-week course will help you conquer your computer fears as you learn how to communicate by email, search the Internet, and use Microsoft Office programs like Microsoft Word.

Session 1 – Introduction to Computer Equipment
In the first session of this series, explore the various parts and pieces that make up a computer and practice using the mouse and keyboard.
Sessions 2 & 3 – Navigating and Organizing on a Computer
In the second and third sessions, get comfortable using different features on a computer and identify ways to stay organized in the digital world.
Sessions 4 & 5 – Internet Exploration and Safety Practices
In the fourth and second sessions, learn how to navigate the multitude of information available on the internet while keeping yourself safe online.
Session 6 – Using E-mail for Communication
Dive deeper into the power of the internet in this sixth session by discovering the importance of email in staying connected with others. Explore the many uses for email in sharing and communicating with family, friends, and businesses with a brief discussion on using email in the workplace.
Session 7 – Creating Documents with Microsoft Word
Showcase your developing computer skills in this final session. Use Microsoft Word to create a letter and learn how this tool can create new opportunities for using computers in the future.
