Youth transition services prepare students with disabilities to move from school to post-school life. The student’s activities are based on his or her needs, preferences, and interests, and include the following areas:
- Instruction
- Community experiences
- Development of employment and other post-school adult living objectives
- Acquisition of daily living skills (when appropriate)
- Functional vocational evaluation.
Goodwill’s transition services department consists of three programs: Pre-Employment Transition Services, Project LIFE, and UPMC Project Search. These programs provide employability and life skills training in both classroom and community environments.
